I recently finished reading An Object of Beauty by Steve Martin and I highly recommend it. It takes a relatively deep dive into the world of art with facts nestled into a great novel. For those newbies that are curious about the workings of the art world, go on, wet your appetite with this book.
Here’s one way to approach the subject. I’ve always been the artsy type yet never really understood art valuation–it’s completely an abstract interpretation. But after this goodread, although valuation is not taught outright, the appreciation that leads to valuation is.
